Any thickness! Market-leading glazing bar brands, like the Alukap-SS range, work with any thickness of glass or glazing. This gives scope for a wide range of glass types from 6mm solid through to triple glazing.

It depends entirely on your roof type. Self supporting glazing bars offer a greater lifespan and are best for lean-to or carport style roofs. On the other hand, rafter supporting glass glazing bars work with a wider range of roofs due to the extra components available such as hip bars, ridge bars and caps for timber roof lanterns.

Glazing bars that have been designed for glass are always aluminium to ensure they have the strength to properly secure the glazing. Compared with other roofing materials, such as polycarbonate, glass has a lot greater weight so aluminium glazing bars are the only type of bars that are robust enough to deal with this.
