Clear polycarbonate sheet is by far the most common type of polycarbonate sheeting used today. Quick to install with polycarbonate glazing bars, Axiome Clear polycarbonate is one of the simplest roofing materials to install.
Universally popular for its unique qualities and versatility, clear polycarbonate is installed on a wide range of applications at home and on site. Ranging from being used as a roofing sheet on lean-tos and pergolas to being installed as screens on carports and pergolas – clear polycarbonate sheets do it all!
Thicknesses from 10mm to 35mm tend to be the most common for home projects, with the 16mm thickness being the biggest seller. If you are wanting greenhouse polycarbonate then 6mm or 10mm are the thicknesses to consider.
Manufactured with a UV protection coating, Axiome clear polycarbonate sheets are protected from going brittle or yellow so are an excellent choice for outdoor projects. With a life expectancy of 20 years, they offer great longevity and high quality.
These polycarbonate sheets can be brought in up to 7 metre lengths and widths up to 2 metres, with several options in between. A huge selection of sizes to choose from to suit your structure. For the majority of polycarbonate roofs, it is best not to exceed 1 metre width sheets so your roof can withstand strong wind and rain loading.

The most popular thickness would be the 16mm polycarbonate sheet so is a great place to start for most projects.
Installing all tints of polycarbonate is an easy process and can be attempted by any DIYer, even those with little experience. Simply use glazing bars to join sheets and secure them down to your rafters. Snapa down glazing bars like Snapa are the simplest option and aluminium glazing bars, like Alukap, are the longest lasting.
There are also self-supporting glazing bar options for polycarbonate sheets that remove the need for installing timber rafters completely.
One of the great benefits of using a clear polycarbonate sheet is its excellent light transmission. The exact amount of light that a polycarbonate sheet lets through can vary based on thickness and type. Solid polycarbonate allows through more light than Twinwall polycarbonate tends to, but even multiwall lets through a great amount of light. For example, Axiome 10mm clear sheets have an 81% light transmission.
For specific light transmission stats please check out our technical brochure for your relevant thickness.
