Using self supporting aluminium glazing bars for a glass roof removes the need for installing timber rafters and increases the lifespan significantly. Aluminium does not rot as timber does over time. Rafter Supported Glazing Bars

Rafter Glazing Bars are designed with all the same features as self supporting but without the base beam. This means they are often used for conservatory roof glazing bars when installing glass.
