Why is a Gable Bar needed on a roof?
The installation of a gable bar is a necessity when build a lean to, or similar, polycarbonate roof as it have protect the fixings at the two outside edges or gables and reduces the risk of side wind uplift. By correctly installing a gable bar you can extend the life expectancy of your roof and create a stronger installation.
We designed the Snapa gable bar to be the words first snap fix gable bar which removed the need for fiddley trims or 3 part bars that are hard to fit once up at roof height!
How many bar end caps does a Snapa Gable bar come with?
All Snapa roof glazing bars come with one end cap per bar purchased. If you are building a freestanding or fully open structure then you can purchase additional Snapa Snap Fix Glazing Bar End Caps for the other side.
Snapa Gable Bars work with a simple snap-fix connection offering fast installation great for a wide range of DIY projects including carports, lean to's and decking covers.
What glazing bar is used if my roof abuts to a side wall?
If your roof has a side wall abutting up to it then you would use our Snapa Wall Glazing Bar on the gables of your roof instead. The Snapa Wall Bar is similar but instead has a vertical outer trim going up to create a smooth surface to flash to against the wall.
As with the Snapa snap fix glazing bar, this is also a two part glazing bar making it easy to install.
How to fix a Gable bar to timber rafters?
Use our Snapa glazing bar screw to secure your Gable Glazing Bar down to your timber rafters and/or purlins. These timber screws are installed through the base part of the glazing bars and provide a strong fix onto your wooden frame. Never install glazing bar screws through the top cap as this will cause leaks.
