Alukap-XR Hip Bar has been designed to create a long lasting connection on both polycarbonate and glass glazed roof hips. Common projects for the Hip Bar include orangeries, roof lanterns and conservatories.
The Alukap aluminium hip bar has extra upstand height and an overhanging top cap. The extra height gives the needed capacity to accept glazing from two different angles as is required at a hip rafter. Also the hip butting glazing bar side walls and overhang allow a perfect sealing position for abutting jack rafter glazing bars.
The Alukap-XR bar comes with the top bar gaskets, one end cap and all the screws you require. Optional 45mm and 55mm rafter gaskets can be ordered separately.
How to use Hip Bars to build a roof lantern?
Using Hip Bar to create your own timber rafter aluminium roof lanterns is a straightforward project. Simply use the hip bar for the four corner hips and the ridge and then standard aluminium glazing bars for any intermediate jack rafters.
Fit a roof lantern end cap each end of the hip bar to cover and waterproof where the hip and ridge intersect. If you are creating a pyramid or square roof lantern then use the pinnacle roof lantern cap.
