Often considered the most popular roof type after lean-to’s, apex roofs are everywhere you look. From garden sheds to garages, ridged roofs are often the structure of choice.
For the majority of garden structure apex roofs, corrugated roofing sheets are the roofing material of choice.
To properly install a corrugated apex roof, you should use a corrugated roof ridge cap like the Corrapol® Super Ridge. An apex roof is when there are two sloping sides (pitches) that meet at a high point to form a peak. The apex is the highest point of the roof, sometimes called the ridge or ridgeline.
Depending on the type of corrugated you are installing there are different ridge options but the best and most universal ridge is the corrugated Super Ridge.
It is never recommended to buy a clear corrugated ridge cap for corrugated plastic sheets as these are always made for low-grade PVC plastic and have a very limited lifespan due to brittleness.
When installing bitumen roof sheets there is also the choice of the bitumen ridge cap which is more economical but not as robust.

Follow the instructions below to install the corrugated ridge cap on your roof. As you’ll discover the Super Ridge is significantly superior to a corrugated bitumen or plastic ridge in every way.
How to install corrugated super ridge
- Safety first – always take the necessary safety precautions
- To install the Super Ridge, measure the length of the ridge minus the depth of the Rock N Lock® Flashings on either side
- Cut the corrugated ridge to length using a chop or hack saw with a suitable metal blade
- Measure and mark fixing holes down ridge approx. every 250mm
- Then pre-drill 5mm fixing holes with a suitable HSS drill bit
- Slide the special Foam Gaskets into the gasket slots
- Place the ridge onto the roof
- Apply a bead of Securbond® Sealant along the back face of the End cap
- Slot the End Cap into the slots and push it into place to compress the sealant. Tip: Hold the end cap on for a few moments to allow time for the sealant to grip
- Take the Corrapol® Screws provided and out the caps on
- Screw the ridge firmly into position to complete the installation. Tip: it can be easiest to fix both ends and then work from one end to the other fixing all intermediate fixings
Tools required to install a corrugated ridge
- Appropriate Safety gear
- Drill
- Chop Saw (with aluminium-compatible blade)
- Tape Measure
- Pencil or marker pen
- Hand saw & spray lubricant (if cutting sheets)

Common Corrugated Ridge Installation Questions
What is the best corrugated ridge?
The best corrugated ridge manufactured is the Corrapol® Super Ridge which offers unbeatable waterproofing and durability through its unique registered design.
Special features like unique foam gaskets and aluminium 3D end caps have been produced to maximise the performance of the ridge beyond any other options.
What’s more, the Super Ridge is very affordable when considering the 5x lifespan of bitumen alternatives.
When purchasing corrugated roof sheets for an apex structure it is critical to choose the correct and most durable option. If there if one component you shouldn’t skimp on it is the ridge as it is essential for a roof’s longevity.
How to install a bitumen ridge?
Installing a bitumen ridge is easy and can be achieved by any skill level of DIY. The main steps to understand are:
- Always overlap ridge panels by a minimum of 220mm
- Secure both sides of the ridge with nails or screws every 2nd corrugation peak
- You will need to create an end cap from a timber panel
A bitumen ridge should only be install with bitumen roof sheets and never corrugated plastic sheets.
Does Corrapol® Super Ridge work with all corrugated profiles?
No, the Super Ridge is only compatible with high profile corrugated sheets from the Clear Amber Group. The brands they manufacture including Corrapol, Awnapol and Corramet.
Can you buy a clear corrugated ridge cap?
No, manufacturing a corrugated roof ridge cap from clear plastic is challenging without compromising on quality so the best corrugated plastic ridge option is the Corrapol Super Ridge.
On the market, there is sometimes a pvc corrugated plastic ride cap available but this has a very poor lifespan and no great waterproof capabilities. This is because it isn’t UV protected so degrades quickly and is made from a brittle type of plastic.
What is an Apex roof?
An apex roof is when there are two sloping sides (pitches) that meet at a high point to form a peak. The apex is the highest point of the roof, sometimes called the ridge or ridgeline.
However, there is a catch. Being the highest point of the roof, it’s not unsurprising that the ridge is the most critical part of an Apex roof to protect from the weather.
