Types of Corrugated Plastic
When choosing a corrugated plastic to use on your roof it is important to understand the differences and advantages of each type to ensure it best suits your needs. There are 3 main types of corrugated plastic options on the market today:
These are ranked from high to low based on cost and durability with the top, Corrapol Stormproof sheet, being the most robust and with the longest lifespan.
All these options are corrugated roofing sheets, however, if you are looking for opaque corrugated plastic sheets then check out our Corramet Corrugated Range. Corramet sheets are manufactured from specially formulated plastic compound resin that is designed to provide unmatched strength and durability.
Which clear corrugated roofing sheet type is best?
There is a wide range of clear corrugated roofing sheets available on the market today, ranging from budget DIY grade to top-quality robust options. Here is a quick summary of each type of clear corrugated roofing sheet available and which Corrapol® roof sheeting is best for your project:
Corrapol® Stormproof
Undoubtedly the best clear corrugated roofing sheet available today the Corrapol® Stormproof sheets are the toughest and longest-lasting sheets within the Corrapol® sheet range. Corrapol® Stormproof clear sheets are extruded from virtually unbreakable plastic resin providing unrivalled clarity, robust strength and above all unmatched weathering characteristics.
This superior strength and quality mean that Corrapol® Stormproof clear sheets will not go yellow or brittle with age and will provide a long-lasting solution for your roof. Unlike lower-cost PVC options, Corrapol® Stormproof sheets won’t crack during installation and are easy to drill and cut, if required.
Corrapol® PVC DIY grade sheets
Whilst not as strong or as tough as the Corrapol® Stormproof range, the Corrapol® PVC corrugated sheet offers a lower cost option and is ideal for areas where impact resistance is not important and direct sunlight is less. For areas like this where you are looking to make a saving the Corrapol® PVC DIY grade sheets provide a great solution and will provide a strong waterproof solution, still with good light transmission.
Corrapol® GRP translucent sheets
Corrapol® GRP provides great strength, similar to that of the Corrapol® Stormproof range, however, the light transmission and visual clarity are lower than other types, due to its fibrous construction. Where areas of direct sunlight are relatively low, the Corrapol® GRP translucent sheets are an excellent solution with high impact strength and excellent rigidity, however, for maximum longevity, Corrapol® Stormproof is best.
